The Youngstown Library’s Front Entrance

Bringing Back the Old

Youngstown Library

The Youngstown Library’s front entrance had been renovated at some point over the years to look more modern. This project was to clean and tuckpoint the library’s limestone facade and to recreate the original front entrance to the library, paying homage to the building’s origins.

Navigating the Unknowns

The Challenge

The recreation of the entrance would prove extremely challenging due to all of the unknowns that were uncovered during the demolition of the current entrance, including the inconsistency of the backup material. This backup material had been unknown due to the multiple renovations of the library over time.

Working With Care

Our Process

The CBR team worked together to install the new stone and fabricate each stone anchor individually. This was extremely challenging, as each anchor had to be fabricated on-site due to the inconsistency of the backup material. Even as the project seemed to change every day due to the ongoing challenges, the crew did an amazing job at accommodating the unknowns and completing the project on a strict timeline.

Restoring the Original

The Outcome

The end result was extremely impressive as the library’s entrance was restored to look like it originally did when it was built. The client was very happy with the end result.
